This morning, the staff here at Elevation volunteered with Seigle Avenue Partners at their Olympic Day. There were about 250 homeless or at risk kids. What an amazing morning!!! We played games, had popcorn and snow cones, threw water balloons, and ate cotton candy! The kids were adorable and had such a great time.
I was really moved by the time I spent with one little girl in particular. She was five years old and very shy and introverted. When I sat down next to her, she grabbed my hand immediately and wrapped my arm around herself… she didn’t let go for most of the morning.
She needed someone to be close to… someone to “see” her.
One of our worship songs this sunday will be “The Lord is my Rock.” I take comfort in these lyrics…
“The Lord is my rock. I won’t be afraid. You’re with me.
Oh God you carry us. You rise above. You lift us up.”
I know God will be with that little girl just as He is with all of us, His children.
london.
Wow! Thank you for being there for her. You may be the only Jesus she will ever see. I know that you planted a seed of Gods love. You guys are awesome!
london, thank you so much for being the only representative of the worship team today while we reached out to our community. i hope you rub it in the boys’ faces how great of a time we had so they don’t skip out anymore.
That is such an awesome story. That little girl will remember that the rest of her life. I am going to go hug my 5 year old girl right now.
